Silent Risk
Educational DVD
The “Silent Risk Educational DVD” was created to provide moms and couples a
valuable resource in understanding that they are not alone in grieving their
loss of a baby to stillbirth, and that support and answers are out there. The
Missing GRACE Foundation provides the spiritual and emotional support for the
time after a loss and in the time during a subsequent pregnancy. The Pregnancy
Institute provides the knowledge and the medical care based on over 20 years of
research and experience.
Highlights of DVD:
*Introduction to our home monitoring program
*Ways to protect your pregnancy
*Understanding the motion of your baby
*Stories of loss and hope
In this DVD you will hear from parents who have experienced having had a
stillbirth, miscarriage, or neonatal death due to cord related issues. In their
subsequent pregnancies many had another baby with a cord issue, but all had
successful outcomes through our monitoring program. There is also testimony from
a mother who has 2 children, both babies had the same type of cord issues
repeated. She was taught what to look for and how to alert the doctor of her
baby’s behavior changes. Her pregnancies were all monitored closely by Pregnancy
institute and her babies each did well and were delivered without complications.

“Umbilical Cord Accidents (UCA) are a type of sudden antenatal death syndrome (SADS) which needs study. Most UCA stillbirths are genetically normal and autopsy negative. Ultrasound is capable of identifying UCA prenatally. Case reports have described management of UCA prior to labor such as vasa previa and monoamniotic twin entanglement. Is it time to consider UCA as an important risk factor for stillbirth? What evidence exists which supports a systematic review of all pregnancies for UCA? Can current obstetrical practices benefit prenatally diagnosed UCA and manage the risk of SADS?”
